On Being a Yoga Newbie

Florence Lefebvre

When I first took up yoga ten years ago, most people attending classes did so to become more supple and also to de-stress - which is still the case today of course - but what they (myself included) might not have expected so much at the time is a challenging practice that included holding standing poses for longer as well as inversions and arm balances.

Easy homemade mayonnaise

Florence Lefebvre

Make your own mayonnaise!
It is easy and quick, and because you are making it yourself, there is none of the junk usually added in the premade ones you buy at supermarkets: sucrose, high fructose corn syrup, thickeners, emulsifiers and flavour enhancers to name a few.
So here is what you need to impress: a whisk, a bowl, one egg yolk, one tablespoon of Dijon mustard, good quality olive or sunflower oil, salt and pepper, and that is it!
Put your egg yolk in the bowl with the mustard, some salt and pepper, and start whisking the mixture as you gradually pour the oil over it. You will see the mixture thickening and becoming lighter in colour as you add the oil.
 You are d-o-n-e!

True Holidays

Florence Lefebvre

It has been busy on the holiday front especially with the Olympics which encouraged quite a few Londoners to flee the country to sunnier shores despite an incredibly smooth fortnight as we now know. Oh and of course, we have not exactly been blessed with a summer worthy of the name…

What actually makes a good holiday?

My First Blog as a Guest

Florence Lefebvre

Excusez-moi, tout le monde, it has been quiet on the blogging front but I had a proper holiday where Internet connection was not an option even if I had been remotely tempted!

Despite this being a bit of an old news, I am reposting a link in case you had any problem with the previous one mentioned in my very first blog. Mmm, yes, I still need to figure my way around Tumblr-Land!

Anyway, I wrote this blog on Hemsley & Hemsley’s page in June and it is all about food: tamasic, rajastic and sattvic. If that is enough to arouse your curiosity, have a little read! Just click on the title and you will be redirected straight to the right the place. I hope you will enjoy it.

Namaste!

Pamper your face with Caudalie

Florence Lefebvre

Embody Wellness yoga and pilates centre ( www.embodywellness.co.uk ) recently got the CAUDALIE skin care range in their (all-too-tempting) display cabinet… Teaching at the centre twice a week, I could no longer resist trying their products! A big thanks to experienced beauty therapist Ricardina Guimaraes who was so helpful in helping me pick the right products for my skin type :-)
The CAUDALIE company is based in France and its skin care products are made with organic grapes and other organic plant-based ingredients. Their promise to you: only the goodness of natural ingredients.

Here is what happens when 2 apples, 2 kiwis, a pear, spinach, kale, Super Green powder, almond butter, almond milk and water land in a blender… Goodness for your taste buds and your body! The content of the blender makes about 4 servings. Enjoy!

Green Smoothie recipe

This weather calls for healthy smoothies! What about the following? Spinach, celery, pineapple, bananas, almond butter, cinnamon, coconut milk (if you like it thicker) or coconut water. Aaaahhh….

Why I finally decided to start blogging

Florence Lefebvre

My name is Florence, I am a Vinyasa Flow yoga teacher, and yes, I can be a little slow at keeping up with the “modern world”!

First I resisted having a mobile phone the first couple of years I moved to London back in 2002 and then had to admit that, well, I simply needed one to get on with work. Being a freelance translator at the time, it was not great to have my flatmates picking up my messages…! Did I miss out on work? Most def!
